Job summary

Action for a Better Community, Inc. seeks a Peer Recovery Advocate to support individuals in recovery within the New Directions program. This role provides recovery education, coaching and peer support from engagement through sustained recovery, working with clinical staff to implement services.

The position emphasizes outreach, workshops, and advocacy, with responsibilities for data entry, reporting, and community partnerships to promote access to treatment and resources.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• Recovery Peer Advocate Certification required; willing to complete recommended training to maintain credentials.
• Minimum of three years direct professional/volunteer experience in substance abuse treatment or recovery program.
• Strong organizational, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills; works with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of drug/alcohol treatment systems and recovery concepts; familiarity with local needs.

Responsibilities

• Outreach, recruitment and program promotion; development of workshops and facilitation.
• Conduct individual/group support sessions; case management and conferencing.
• Coordinate events such as forums, presentations and special activities.
• Manage assigned database systems; enable consumer linkages and navigation; data entry and reporting.
• Advocate with organizations to increase access to treatment and resources.
