Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a non-clinical recovery navigator assigned to the Addiction Consult Service at Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals. You will support individuals in ED and inpatient settings, connect them to recovery resources, and advocate for continued engagement after discharge.

As a peer with lived recovery, you will lead group sessions, educate patients and staff about SUD and AUD, and coordinate with community supports to help each person reach their recovery goals.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older with HS diploma required.
• Be a Peer with lived addiction experience.
• Have at least two years of sustained recovery.
• BSAS Recovery Coach Academy or CCAR training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Subject matter expert in addiction treatment systems and pathways.
• Communicate treatment options to patients and assess needs.
• Lead group recovery sessions.
• Document in EPIC and complete admin requirements as needed.
• Educate patients and healthcare peers on SUD and AUD.

As a member of the Addiction Consult Service, this position provides non-clinical support to individuals who present in an ED and/or Inpatient at Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals. Serve as a recovery guide and role model in the management of recovery and assist the individual to identify and overcome barriers to recovery, connect the individual with recovery support services and encourage hope, optimism and health. Provide support with problem solving and advocacy to assist individuals to meet their recovery goals. Provide education to individuals and family members on the recovery process. As a member of the Addiction Consult Service, this position engages with patients who are high ED utilizers to coordinate with peer networks/natural supports, coordinate referrals to community social services providers, follow up on referrals and contribute to the treatment plan revisions.

Job Description:

Essential Role Responsibilities:

• Subject matter expert in the Addiction Treatment service system and Pathways to recovery

• Ability to communicate treatment and pathway options to patients Assess patient’s treatment needs and develop collaborative plan with the individual patient and supports

• Leads Group Recovery Sessions

• Uses time management and prioritization skills to to address patients needs in the ED, Admitted Patients and Community visitations

• Follow up via telephone or text when patient is discharged and continue engagement with patients willing to collaborate

• Documentation in EPIC system and other administrative requirements deemed necessary by Supervisor

• Educate patients and healthcare peers on SUD and AUD

• Utilize motivational interviewing to explore causal factors and triggers of a patient’s AUD or SUD

• Demonstrates professional boundaries regarding confidentiality and personal relationships, while being able to share personal experiences of their own recovery journey

• Completes training assigned by the organization and act as a role model and advocate to teammates, peers and supervisors

• Provides linkage to peer networks and natural supports where and when appropriate

• Collaborate, communicate and advocate with cross functional teams

Education/Experience:

• 18 years or older and high school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Driver’s license and car required.

• Be a Peer with lived addiction experience.

• Have at least two years of current, sustained recovery without reoccurrence.

• Preferred to have completed the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) Recovery Coach Academy or the Connecticut Community Addiction Recovery (CCAR) training prior to working. Licensure is changing - so when new requirements come out this will be reviewed with current employee and timelines discussed for obtaining state licensure requirement.

Pay Range:

$27.83 - $37.45

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
