Job summary

Anew Behavioral Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. You will provide one-on-one and group support, help create recovery plans, and connect clients with housing, employment, healthcare, and social services.

You will work with a multidisciplinary clinical team, promote recovery, and encourage participation in 12-step programs and other activities.

Qualifications

• Lived experience in recovery from SUD or addiction required.
• CPRS or Peer Support Certification preferred or to be obtained within specified months.
• Knowledge of the 12-step program and other recovery methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while offering empathy and support.
• Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals with complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals with SUD, using lived experience to build trust and hope.
• Help clients identify and set recovery goals, offer emotional support, and navigate challenges.
• Facilitate peer recovery groups or support meetings and encourage sharing.
• Model healthy coping strategies, decision making, and positive lifestyle changes.
• Assist clients in accessing housing, employment, healthcare, and social services by linking to resources.
• Support development of individualized recovery plans and progression toward sobriety.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure comprehensive care including therapy and counseling.
• Provide education about recovery, coping skills, relapse prevention, and sobriety maintenance.
• Encourage participation in 12-step programs and recovery-focused activities.
• Help clients manage triggers, high-risk situations and cravings.
• Maintain confidential records of interactions and progress.
• Participate in case meetings to update recovery goals.
• Track and report client outcomes to support program improvement.
• Work with clinicians to ensure holistic care.
• Attend supervision and training to enhance skills and compliance with standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
