Job summary

Ohio University is seeking a Records Management Specialist to oversee file storage and records management, organize and integrate files for storage, and retrieve records as requested. The role emphasizes customer service, staff supervision, and coordination of complex record systems within the Registrar's Office.

The ideal candidate will audit records for accuracy, ensure confidentiality, and stay aware of regulatory policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED with 3+ years of related records management experience.
  • Associate’s degree and customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; FERPA knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage file storage, organize, convert, and integrate files for storage.
  • Provide customer service to students, staff, faculty, and others in the university community.
  • Lead and/or supervise TAS staff and student employees.
  • Coordinate and maintain complex record systems or databases specialized in records.
  • Research and resolve complex record or data issues, making decisions based on established guidelines.
  • Audit records for accuracy and compliance; oversee guidelines for records deletion.
  • Serve as primary contact for release and protection of confidential, sensitive records.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute reports; maintain awareness of government regulations and interpret policies.

Job description

Ohio University is hiring a Records Management Specialist. This role involves overseeing file storage and records management, organizing and integrating files for storage, and retrieving records as requested. The specialist provides customer service, supervises staff, coordinates complex record systems, audits record activity for compliance, and ensures protection of confidential records while maintaining regulatory awareness.

  • Starting pay range $16.84 – $21.48 per hour with multiple benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, retirement plan, and educational benefits.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related records management experience; associate’s degree and customer service experience preferred.
  • Position is full-time within the Registrar's Office under the Vice President Enrollment Management planning unit.
