Job summary

CalPERS in Sacramento County is seeking a Reconciliation Accountant to support the Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division. This permanent, full-time role emphasizes meticulous accounting duties and professional judgment in reconciling complex financial data.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule with up to two days remote and three onsite, and opportunities to work with cross-functional teams using PeopleSoft Financials.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes accounting data and transactions, identifies, researches, and analyzes errors and discrepancies and takes appropriate action to rectify reconciling items.
  • Prepares and posts journals entries to record monthly accounting activity and adjustments to general ledger.
  • Creates and maintains supplier records in PeopleSoft Financials for all program areas.
  • Processes and/or approves investment related expenses using PeopleSoft and the State Street Bank Cash Manager wire system.

Job Description And Duties

California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division is seeking an Accounting Officer to provide professional accounting duties to support the Reconciliations Unit.

The Accounting Officer's duties include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzes accounting data and transactions, identifies, researches, and analyzes errors and discrepancies and takes appropriate action to rectify reconciling items in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepares and posts journals entries to record the monthly accounting activity and any adjustments and/or corrections to general ledger.
  • Creates and maintains supplier records in PeopleSoft Financials for all program areas.
  • Processes and/or approves investment related expenses using PeopleSoft and the State Street Bank Cash Manager wire system.
Telework Information

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Sponsorship

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
