Job summary

Sonic Automotive’s Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston seeks a Reconditioning Technician to inspect, repair, and prepare pre-owned vehicles to dealership standards. You will perform routine maintenance and cosmetic reconditioning, ensuring safety and quality before vehicles reach the front line.

Qualifications include 1+ year automotive maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and ability to pass background, MVR, and drug tests.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Authorized to work in the USA.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including background checks, MVR and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle inspections to identify mechanical and cosmetic repairs.
• Complete basic maintenance such as oil changes, brakes, batteries, and fluid checks.
• Document work performed and notify service advisors of needed repairs.
• Assist with cosmetic reconditioning including buffing and light interior cleaning.
• Ensure vehicles meet safety and quality standards before front-line movement.
• Maintain reconditioning logs and daily production targets.
• Operate and move vehicles safely around the dealership and service areas.
• Keep work areas clean and compliant with safety procedures.

Job Description

The Reconditioning Technician will inspect, repair, and prepare pre-owned vehicles for front-line readiness in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle inspections to identify needed mechanical and cosmetic repairs
• Complete basic maintenance services such as oil changes, brakes, batteries, and fluid checks
• Document all work performed and communicate needed repairs with service advisors or management
• Assist with cosmetic reconditioning including buffing, light interior cleaning, and trim repairs
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety and quality standards before being moved to the front line
• Maintain reconditioning logs and meet daily production targets
• Operate and move vehicles safely around the dealership and service areas
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety procedures

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in general automotive maintenance or repair
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
• All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, and valid driver license.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of reconditioning or dealership service experience
• Familiarity with multi-point inspections and light mechanical repairs
• Experience working with internal service departments or used vehicle operations
