School District 197 is seeking a Supervisory Paraprofessional for recess duties at Somerset Elementary School. The role includes supervising students K-4 during indoor and outdoor recess and cafeteria times, in all weather, and working in a three-person team.

The position emphasizes safety, mediation, and collaboration with staff. Compensation ranges from $21.83 to $23.56 per hour under the 2025-2027 Paraprofessional Agreement.

Qualifications

• Active supervision during Indoor/outdoor recess and inside the cafeteria for students K-4.
• Ability to be outside in all types of weather conditions including snow, rain, and sleet.
• Enjoys working with children; able to build relationships and mediate conflict.
• Part of a team of three; able to communicate and collaborate with adults.
• Monitoring student behavior; peer mediation and problem resolution.
• Encourages students to observe considerate and safe behavior.
• Reports all incidents of unacceptable student behavior to the principal.
• Keeping the principal informed of unacceptable student behavior or impending student behavior problems.
• Monitors all assigned areas of responsibility.
• Attending all meetings as assigned by principal.
• Performing work assigned to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
• Patience, experience with student mediation preferred.
• This position works with a large number of children.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with adults and participate in team meetings.
• Report incidents to the principal and keep records up to date.
