Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is currently seeking a Receptionist for Haywood Surgical Associates to join our patient-centered team in a full-time, daytime schedule. You will greet visitors, manage the front desk, collect copays, and coordinate patient flow and records to support efficient care delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and healthcare front-office experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while delivering compassionate

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and communicates with patients and providers.
• Coordinates workflow and maintains office activity records.
• Completes check-in/check-out process.
• Updates patient demographics and insurance information.
• Collects copays and outstanding balances for current and past visits.
• Completes pre-appointment checklists and prepares accordingly.
• Answers and directs phone calls and distributes messages.
• Keeps the office area neat and tidy.
• Monitors and maintains logs of needed office supplies.
• Handles information requests and reviews files and records.
• Monitors front office task buckets and acts promptly.
• Schedules referrals for patients to be seen by other physicians/specialists; notifies patients as needed.
• Performs other delegated tasks.

How you'll contribute

A Receptionist who excels in this role:

• Greets visitors and communicates with patients and providers.


• Coordinates workflow and complies records of office activities.


• Completes all aspects of check-in/check-out process.


• Enters and updates patient demographics and insurance information.


• Collects any copay/coinsurance balances for current visit and any outstanding balance from patients.


• Complete pre-appointment checklists and prepares accordingly.


• Places, answers, and directs phone calls and distributes messages. Including retrieval and distribution of answering service messages.


• Keeps office area neat and tidy.


• Monitors and maintains log of needed office supplies.


• Handles information requests, including reviewing files and records, answering inquiries, and responding to incoming work requests.


• Monitors and addresses all front office task buckets in a timely manner.


• Schedule referrals for patients to be seen by other physicians/specialists as ordered. Send all records needed and notify patient as needed.


• Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers and Market director.

Schedule: Full-time, Days (Monday-Friday)
