Job summary

Metasys Technologies seeks a professional Front Desk Receptionist to support a legal office with first-rate customer service, greet visitors, and assist attorneys and staff in Reston, VA.

You will answer calls, coordinate meeting rooms, manage hospitality, and maintain a professional lobby while handling light clerical tasks and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of related business experience preferred, with strong preference for administrative, reception, or switchboard experience.
  • Customer service experience required; experience in a law firm or legal environment is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, friendly, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work with office and technical equipment.
  • Stable prior and related work history required; candidates with frequent short-term assignments or job hopping will not be considered.
  • Candidates with paralegal backgrounds are not suitable for this role.
  • Business professional dress required; the office is fragrance-free, so only non-scented personal hygiene products are acceptable.
  • Ability to perform occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying objects up to 50 lbs., with assistance provided for heavier items.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist all visitors and employees with a professional and welcoming approach.
  • Answer and route incoming telephone calls using professional phone etiquette.
  • Schedule meeting rooms and ensure conference rooms are prepared with required supplies, beverages, and video conferencing equipment.
  • Maintain visitor and guest security procedures and monitor attorney and staff availability to appropriately handle calls and visitors.
  • Perform light clerical and administrative duties, including preparing documents and correspondence, maintaining files and calendars, and scheduling appointments and meetings.
  • Assist with hospitality services, including coffee, water, food, and beverages as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lobby, workspace, supply rooms, and supply closets.
  • Order and organize office supplies as needed.
  • Assist with tracking and issuing customer property such as ID badges, phones, directories, and other equipment.
  • Provide concierge-style assistance to guests, clients, and staff, including familiarity with local restaurants and services.
  • Build professional relationships with clients and employees and become familiar with office culture and expectations.
  • Participate in office or community initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Location Requirement: Candidates should live within approximately one hour of the worksite.

Potential Permanent Opportunity: Opportunity to become permanent after 320 hours worked.
