Job summary

Cimolai-HY LLC in Chicago is seeking a Receiving Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Receiving and Raw Material departments, ensuring safety, quality, schedules and budgets are met.

You will supervise staff, plan work, monitor material movements, coordinate with procurement for supply, and maintain records to uphold a safe, efficient warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, planning or material handling.
• Thorough understanding of steel inventory and material movement processes.
• Requires precision and attention to detail for safe handling of steel and interplant transport.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.

Job description

The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Receiving and Raw Material departments; ensuring the departments are operating successfully, meeting quality standards, staying on schedule, and staying within budget.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, planning or material handling.
• Candidate must have a thorough understanding of steel inventory and material movement processes.
• The job requires precision and attention to detail to ensure safe handling of steel while transporting interplant.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, steel fabrication processes, equipment, and materials.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
• Proficiency in safety regulations and procedures related to steel fabrication.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Able to Organize and Manage Reporting Requirements.
• Attention to detail and precision.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision making, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Company Management Software/ERP

POSITION EXPECTATIONS

• Managing yard inventory
• Ensuring adherence to safety standards and protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and lead employees, coordinating appropriate training, assigning tasks, and providing guidance and support as needed.
• Plan work so that priorities are properly achieved, and work is completed in the most efficient way while maintaining quality and safety.
• Monitor raw materials movements, coordinating with procurement teams to ensure adequate supply levels.
• Ensure that schedules are met, overseeing the receiving and inventory process, and troubleshooting any issues that arise to minimize downtime.
• Maintain work records as required.
• Assist technicians with troubleshooting failures of machines and systems.
• Oversee simple rigging operations and occasional heavy or complex rigging.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and manlifts, as necessary.
• Maintain good housekeeping by cleaning and organizing work areas.
• Ensure that safe working practices are followed.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
