Job summary

Cimolai-HY LLC in Chicago, IL is seeking a Material Handler to manage the flow of materials within the fabrication facility. You will receive, store, and distribute materials to production areas, ensuring safety and alignment with the production schedule.

This role requires forklift experience, basic math, and a commitment to quality and teamwork. You will work closely with supervisors to prioritize deliveries, inspect materials, and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in material handling or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment are required.
  • Basic math and measurement skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork are important.

Responsibilities

  • Transport materials within the facility using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment.
  • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage or injury.
  • Follow proper safety protocols for lifting and moving heavy loads.
  • Deliver materials to production areas according to the production schedule.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors to prioritize deliveries and ensure timely supply of materials.
  • Assist in quality control by inspecting materials for defects or damage.
  • Reject or quarantine materials that do not meet quality standards and report issues.
  • Perform basic maintenance on material handling equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to staff.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and other departments to coordinate flow.

Job description

The steel fabrication Material Handler is responsible for managing the flow of materials within the fabrication facility. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing materials to various production areas. They ensure that materials are handled safely and efficiently to support the production schedule and meet quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in material handling or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math and measurement principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
