Job summary

Steele Solutions seeks a Receiving Lead for the 2nd shift (Paint) to manage daily receiving operations, verify shipments, and ensure inventory accuracy while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will coach the receiving team, coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Shipping, and use ERP and inventory systems to keep materials flowing smoothly.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Production supervisor, the Receiving Lead is responsible for leading daily receiving operations while ensuring inventory accuracy, efficient material flow, and compliance with company safety and quality standards. This hands-on leadership role supports receiving team members, coordinates incoming materials, and works closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Shipping to ensure materials are received, stored, and delivered in a timely manner.

The Receiving Lead serves as a key resource within the warehouse and manufacturing environment by promoting safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Coordination

• Lead and coordinate daily receiving activities to ensure operational goals are met.
• Provide training, coaching, and support to receiving team members.
• Assist with workload distribution and task prioritization.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a point of contact for receiving-related issues and problem resolution.

Receiving & Inventory Management

• Coordinate the receipt of incoming materials, parts, and supplies.
• Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
• Inspect incoming materials for damage, defects, and quantity discrepancies.
• Document and communicate receiving issues to appropriate departments.
• Ensure all materials are properly scanned and received into the business system.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and storage locations.
• Perform cycle counts and support inventory audits.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and take corrective action when discrepancies are identified.
• Place incoming materials into designated inventory locations.
• Pull and deliver materials to production as needed to support manufacturing requirements.
• Move products and materials throughout the facility using forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
• Ensure material handling equipment is inspected and maintained in safe working condition.

Documentation & Compliance

• Review bills of lading, packing slips, purchase orders, invoices, and other receiving documents.
• Accurately complete and maintain all required paperwork and system transactions.
• Maintain compliance with company procedures and quality requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using 5S principles and best practices.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of receiving, warehouse, inventory control, or material handling experience.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Forklift operating experience required; certification preferred.
• Experience with ERP, warehouse management, or inventory systems preferred.
• Basic computer skills including data entry, email, and business system navigation.
