Job summary

Caris Life Sciences is seeking a detail-oriented Materials Handler to receive deliveries, verify goods, and stock materials in accordance with GMP-like GDP standards. You will use ERP/WMS to process receipts, move items with forklifts, and manage quarantined inventory per temperature requirements.

You will perform daily cycle counts, replenish stocks via FIFO, and ensure accurate documentation. Training others and collaborating in a team are essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in materials management, warehousing, shipping, receiving or related fields.
  • Experience using ERP/WMS to receive POs and perform inventory transactions.
  • Parcel shipping experience - packing shipments, creating shipping labels, and scheduling pickups.
  • Ability and willingness to train new and existing employees on receiving and replenishment processes.
  • Read and follow SOPs and process documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, inspect, and sign for deliveries.
  • Use ERP system to review PO and process receipt.
  • Transport shipments using carts, pallet jack, or forklift.
  • Document receipt on packing slips and material specification forms.
  • Place quarantined inventory in designated area and manage temp-controlled storage.
  • Release inventory to in-use after QC/QA approval.
  • Perform daily counts at points of use and replenish per stocking levels.
  • Replenish items using FIFO and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete material transfer forms and shipping paperwork per SOP.
  • Carry out cycle-counts and investigate discrepancies with supervisor.

If you're passionate about meaningful work and want to be part of something bigger than yourself, Caris is where your impact begins.Position SummaryResponsible for receiving deliveries, processing receipts in ERP system, stocking materials in appropriate storage areas based on temperature requirements, placing materials in quarantine, forwarding samples to labs, releasing inventory, facilitating material transfers, and replenishing material points of use in laboratory and R&D facilities.Job ResponsibilitiesReceive, verify, inspect, and sign for deliveries.Utilize material handling equipment - carts, pallet jack, and/or forklift to safely transport shipments.Use ERP system to review purchase order (PO) and process receipt accordingly.Use document management system to review and print material specification forms.Verify that inventory items are delivered and received per specification and acceptance criteria.Document receipt on packing slips and material specification forms, following Caris Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Place inventory materials requiring quarantine in designated area and store based on appropriate temperature requirements.Create and apply correct labels to inventory items.Send samples of materials requiring testing to quality control (QC) group.Use database to record materials requiring testing and material certification verification.Compare certificate of analysis (CoA) or conformance (CoC) info to acceptance criteria listed on material specification forms to verify match and passing results.Release inventory materials and move to in-use inventory upon QC pass/QA approval.Pull and transfer inventory materials from central stores warehouse to stock rooms located at laboratory facilities.Complete material transfer form and shipping paperwork accurately per established SOP.Receive transfers and put away materials in appropriate storage areas in stock rooms based on temperature requirements.Perform system transactions to reflect movement of materials and to keep accurate inventory.Perform daily counts of materials at points of use in labs and R&D facilities and replenish per set stocking levels.Replenish items based on first in first out (FIFO) method.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and hazardous materials.Comply with all safety and health regulations.Perform daily/weekly cleaning tasks and maintain cleaning log.Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP).Maintain organized workstations and warehouse by applying 5S concepts.Follow all established SOP's, work instructions/job-aides, and best practices related to the receiving, inventory control, and replenishment process.Perform assigned cycle-counts and investigate discrepancies. Report findings to Supervisor and/or Lead and make inventory adjustments as directed. Accurately fill out inventory adjustment form.Carry out tasks as assigned by the supervisor and /or manager.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.1 - 2 years of experience in materials management, warehousing, shipping, receiving or related fields.Knowledge of inventory management processes related to receiving, quarantine, material release and transfer, and forward replenishment.Experience using ERP/WMS to receive PO's and perform various inventory transactions.Parcel shipping experience - packing shipments, creating shipping labels, and scheduling pickups.Ability and willingness to train new and existing employees on all relevant receiving and replenishment job processes.Preferred QualificationsAssociates or Bachelor's degree.Previous experience training new and existing employees on all relevant receiving and replenishment job processes.Reading/research and understanding of industry related issues and trends in warehousing, specimen handling, customer support, and use of technology in logistics.Attention to detail and ability to catch discrepancies.Self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills.Experience operating material handling equipment as needed (forklift, pallet jack, etc.).PC experience - data entry, using email, spreadsheets, and inventory control systems.Works well in a team environment and promotes teamwork.Ability to read and follow SOP's, process flowcharts, and work instructions/job-aides.Physical DemandsWill work at a desk / computer as well as the occasional use of copiers, fax machines, and scanners.Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.TrainingAll job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this position.OtherThis position will require working some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.Conditions of Employment: Individual must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, credit check ( applicable for certain positions) and reference verification.This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions.
