Clean Harbors Dolton, IL Facility is seeking a Receiving Chemist Intern to join our safety-focused team for Summer 2027. This in-person internship offers hands-on experience supporting real projects across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations.

Interns work alongside professionals at the Dolton site, gain exposure to the industry, and develop practical skills that align with academic and early career goals.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry or a relevant field at an accredited college or university.
• Forklift experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in learning about the environmental services industry.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other relevant technical tools.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety in all tasks and follow safe work practices.
• Receive containers, verify counts, and code waste for disposal.
• Sample incoming drums and perform basic analyses per procedures.
• Sort and consolidate batteries for disposal.
• Code drums for routing and billing per protocol.
• Ensure drums have proper disposal or outbound profiles.
• Move drums to correct storage areas.
• Complete paperwork and meet QA/QC guidelines.
• Maintain OSHA safety compliance and company policies.
