Job summary

Caesars Entertainment’s Horseshoe Indianapolis facility is seeking a Receiving Barn Laborer to clean, organize, and perform minor repairs in the Receiving Barn. You will be responsible for stall and floor cleaning, parking area upkeep, and weekly drain flushing.

Experience around racehorses and strong communication skills are essential. The role involves working around Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses in a fast-paced racing environment; formal training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college experience preferred.
  • 1–3 months racetrack industry experience; must have experience around racehorses.
  • Strong verbal, mathematical, interpersonal, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, organize, and minor-repair the Receiving Barn daily.
  • Custodial cleaning of stalls, floors, and parking areas.
  • Clean and flush drains in wash stalls weekly.
  • Ensure horsemen' safety by keeping floors clean during live racing.
  • Assist with placing horses in correct stalls; report issues.
  • Work around Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses daily; prior horse experience needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Receiving Barn Laborer is responsible for cleaning, organizing, and making minor repairs to the Receiving Barn by performing the following duties:

  • All custodial/cleaning of each stall in the Receiving Barn as many times as needed daily.
  • All custodial/cleaning of the floors in the Receiving Barn on a constant basis.
  • Cleaning and sweeping of parking lots in and around the Receiving Barn.
  • Cleaning and flushing of the drains in the wash stalls on a weekly basis.
  • If assigned to work during live racing, ensure the safety of the horsemen by keeping the floors clean and clear of waste at all times.
  • Maintain and manage the proper care of work equipment reporting loss or damage to the supervisor.
  • If asked, assist the Stall Superintendent place horses shipping in to race in the correct assigned stall.
  • Team members will be working around Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses each day; must have experience working around racehorses.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or GED; College experience preferred.
  • One to three months of experience in racetrack industry; must have experience working around racehorses.
  • Excellent verbal, mathematics, interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, offer recommendations, decision making, ability to make quick accurate decisions independently.
  • Extensive equine knowledge, types of racing and all racing industry requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission License.

Horseshoe Indianapolis is a smoking establishment, therefore must be able to work in a smoking environment. Must be able to work in a highly populated, fast-paced, and noisy environment. Must be able to work in an environment subject to cold and/or hot temperatures, rain, wind, sun, dust, animals, insects, etc.
