Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Receives in goods and checks quantity, quality, and price against orders.
  • Notes discrepancies and notifies Yard Foreman.
  • Maintains receiving logs and completes paperwork for goods received.
  • Ensures goods are stored and put away before end of shift.
  • Performs weekly cycle counts and investigates discrepancies.
  • Reports low or out-of-stock conditions to Yard Foreman.
  • Identifies damaged goods and adjusts inventory accordingly.
  • Assists customers as needed and performs other yard duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $17.00 To $18.00 Hourly

Summary: Insures the accuracy on all inbound goods and performs weekly cycle counts there after to assure proper inventory levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Receives in all goods and checks for the accuracy as ordered regarding quantity, quality, and price, this includes vendor and inter company receipts.
  • Notes any discrepancies regarding quantity, quality, and price.
  • Notifies the Yard Foreman of any such discrepancies or damages of inbound goods and clearly marks freight bills with driver’s signatures.
  • Maintains all receiving logs.
  • Responsible for completion and proper disposition of all paperwork for goods received.
  • Maintains a clean safe receiving area.
  • Ensures that all goods received are put away before the end of their work shift.
  • Responsible for the movement, tagging, and storage of any special order merchandise.
  • Calls customer’s directly or passes on paperwork for customer notification.
  • Prepares and makes arrangements for any goods that must be returned to vendors or suppliers.
  • Performs weekly cycle counts, and investigates any discrepancies.
  • Reports any low in-stock situations or out-of-stock situations to Yard Foreman.
  • Adjust the on hand count to accurately reflect the correct on-hand amount.
  • Notifies the Yard Foreman if changes are being made to the on-hand amounts and reports any discrepancies over allotted amount to Branch Manager.
  • Identifies damaged goods and makes the necessary inventory adjustments according to policy.
  • Recognizes and reports any indications of theft to Yard foreman immediately.
  • Helps customers as needed.
  • Performs other yard functions as needed.

Education and / or Experience

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma; or twelve months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and / or other associates of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
