Job summary

United Natural Foods, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Receiving Associate to join our distribution team in the Richburg, SC area. You’ll verify quantities, inspect damaged goods, and ensure proper put-away into back stock.

This onsite role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Starting wage is $20.75/hour with a $2.00/hour weekend premium and a $2.00/hour freezer premium where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age due to equipment operation.
• Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or stock clerk is desirable.
• Ability to lift cases up to 90 pounds.
• Ability to read labels and make proper stacking/loading decisions.
• Good judgment when supervision may not be immediately available.

Responsibilities

• Verifies quantities of product received against packing slip or purchase order.
• Checks and reports any damage due to refrigeration, travel or handling by inbound freight.
• Sorts or breaks down all incoming product.
• Builds steady pallets to be put into back stock reserves.
• Ensures labeling of product and pallets is accurate for put-away.
• Performs duties in accordance with HACCP and SQF policies.

Job Overview:

Responsible for having a strong understanding of the entire warehouse and receiving procedures. Also needs to understand the products, receiving procedures, and back stock put away procedures. A receiver is responsible for moving product off trucks, monitoring the quality of product, entering it into inventory, and properly putting product in its respective staging location.

In these essential roles, you will work directly with the inventory department, Supervisors and leads to verify quantities of product received and loaded onto trucks at the distribution centers. These roles have a strong understanding of products that we carry, all receiving/loading procedures and back stock. This team ensures that products are in the proper staging locations so we can efficiently receive and load trucks with products accurately while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Pay & Schedule:

• Starting wage $20.75/hour
• $2.00/hr for Weekends
• $2.00/hr for Freezer environment (if applicable)

Job Responsibilities:

Job Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age due to equipment operation.
• Prior experience as a shipping, receiving, or stock clerk is highly desirable.
• Must be able to lift cases of various weight and sizes up to 90 pounds.
• Must be able to read labels and make decisions on properly stacking and loading product into trucks.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available

Work Environment:

• Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
• Ability to do repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements required.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Onsite Role: This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
