Job summary

Truist Wealth seeks a seasoned credit underwriting professional to lead due diligence and structuring for new money, renewals, and reviews. You will assess risk/return, monitor portfolios, and act as a primary contact for clients and internal teams.

You will utilize ARGUS and Excel tools, collaborate across departments, and mentor junior analysts while ensuring compliance with credit principles and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business.
  • Series 79 and Series 63 licensure.
  • 3+ years in underwriting, portfolio administration or commercial loan decision-making.
  • Experience underwriting and closing direct and syndicated loans ($25MM–$250MM+).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Office).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of credit principles.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
  • Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead due diligence, underwriting and structuring on new money, renewals and reviews.
  • Research prospects with Portfolio Manager and evaluate risk/return.
  • Complete performance and monitoring activities for the portfolio.
  • Serve as client/internal contact for portfolio management.
  • Provide real estate underwriting knowledge and market insights.
  • Lead credit presentation preparation for Credit Officer and approvers.
  • Mentor and coach Portfolio Analyst.

The position is described below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for leading the due diligence, developing credit underwriting and structuring on new money, renewals and reviews, making independent recommendations based on assigned components of the deal. Acts as author and creates initial view of risk based on experience and skills.
  • Works independently and with Portfolio Manager researching and qualifying prospects and underwriting new opportunities. Applies understanding of credit risk to evaluate and recommend new requests balancing risk /return for the Bank.
  • Completes performance and monitoring activity for assigned portfolio to include overall portfolio management, client risk assessments, required risk monitoring activity and understanding of current industry and market trends.
  • Serve as a client and internal point of contact in managing assigned portfolio. (May include site visit and/or visit with client management team)
  • Serves as source of real estate underwriting knowledge and expertise, which includes understanding of current industry and/or market trends.
  • Responsible for leading credit presentation preparation and discussions with Credit Officer and other final approvers.
  • Mentors and coaches Portfolio Analyst.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 2. Possess appropriate Investment Banking licensure including Series 79 (Investment Banking Representative) and Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State License)
  • 3. 3+ years of experience in underwriting, portfolio administration or commercial loan credit decision-making
  • 4. Experience in underwriting, structuring and closing direct and syndicated loan transactions (e.g. $25MM to $250MM+)
  • 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 6. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
  • 7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 8. Knowledge of credit principles.
  • 9. Ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
  • 10. Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1. Graduate of Truist or legacy Development Program
  • 2. 5 Years of portfolio management and client relationship experience preferably in Commercial Real Estate related industries.
  • 3. Intermediate knowledge of ARGUS software; high level Excel modeling and analysis tools, including expertise in use of 3rd party Real Estate Data Sources (CoStar, REIS, Axiometrics)
  • 4. Familiarity with loan documentation, covenants, Corporate Accounting and financial statement reporting including analysis of financial statements
  • 5. Completion of commercial associate program or equivalent experience; Master’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate Finance, MBA or related field or an equivalent combination of educational and experience or other related advanced degree.
