Job description

Primary Purpose of Position

To maintain Oil and Lube levels on machinery and to rebuild repairable items returned to the stockroom.

Major Responsibilities of Position
  • Conscientious worker.
  • Self-Motivated - can start, continue, and complete projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal skills.
  • Must be able to learn the Plex system and Excel.
  • Creative - proactive in developing ideas and procedures to help with job or project at hand.
  • Safe working environment achieved and maintained.
  • Perform varied mechanical duties such as repairing pumps, fans, cylinders, grinders, valves, and other facility equipment.
  • Prepare accurate records for all repairs generated through the stockroom.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.
  • Must be able to read Mechanical, Hydraulic, and other related prints.
  • Knowledge of fluid cleanliness levels.
  • Knowledge of different oils and lubes.
  • Knowledge of lube system.
  • Ability to organize many tasks (multiple rebuilds).

Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):

  • Must have regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to follow directions of a supervisor.
  • Must be cooperative with other employees.
  • Must be quality conscious with an emphasis on operating to the Work Instruction.
  • Be familiar with hydraulics and pneumatics or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing, effectively.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate, educate and coach new team members.
  • Fluent in English.

Physical demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, twist, bend, grasp and lift – occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual requirements include ability to visually inspect work performed.
  • Talk and hear.
  • Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily.

Work Environment

  • Automotive manufacturing environment: shift work, i.e., five-eight-hour shifts for 40 regular hours per week with overtime as required.
  • Shop Environment: 75% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions; standard tools available.
  • Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected.

Educational and Certification Background

  1. High school diploma or equivalent - Essential.
  2. Minimum of six months’ experience working in a manufacturing or related setting; 1 year preferred. Experience with molten metal a plus - Essential.
  3. Possess mechanical ability and be knowledgeable in the use of hand tools - Essential.
