Salary Range: $30.00 To $42.00 Hourly

Job Description: The Rebuild Mechanic is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing of centrifuge assemblies and related rotating equipment. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately evaluate component condition and identify required repairs.

The Rebuild Mechanic will document inspection findings and communicate repair recommendations to Project Coordinators, Supervisors, and other appropriate personnel to support customer review and project completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Disassemble mechanical equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Clean components thoroughly to prepare them for inspection and repair.
  • Inspect mechanical components for wear, damage, dimensional accuracy, and overall condition.
  • Accurately use inside and outside micrometers and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Identify components requiring repair, replacement, or additional evaluation.
  • Prepare clear and detailed inspection reports documenting component condition, measurements, findings, and recommended repairs.
  • Communicate inspection findings and repair requirements to Project Coordinators, Supervisors, and other appropriate personnel.
  • Remove, inspect, and install bearings using proper techniques and procedures.
  • Reassemble equipment according to specifications and established procedures.
  • Perform test runs and operational checks following reassembly to verify proper equipment performance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and assist in determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Work with rotating components and understand basic principles related to alignment and balancing.
  • Perform work involving hydraulic systems and basic electrical components as required.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and work instructions.
  • Work independently or collaboratively with other team members to complete projects safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in bearing removal, inspection, and installation.
  • Ability to accurately read and use inside and outside micrometers and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Understanding of rotating components, alignment, and balancing principles.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and basic electrical components.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection findings and communicate technical information.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate possible solutions, and make sound decisions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to take ownership of assigned work.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous mechanical, industrial maintenance, equipment rebuild, millwright, or similar hands-on experience preferred.
  • Experience working with rotating equipment, bearings, precision measurements, or equipment rebuilding is strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant mechanical experience may be considered.

The Rebuild Mechanic is expected to consistently demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, productivity, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. Because inspection findings and measurements are used to determine repair requirements, accuracy and attention to detail are critical to successful performance in this position.
