Job summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication Southwest in Lathrop, CA is seeking an entry-level production worker to bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars per customer orders, with a mentor who will train you on safely operating all machinery.

You will unload trailers, set up machines, and help assemble and ship orders, while following safety policies; Nucor offers a full benefits package and opportunities to grow with North America’s largest steel producer.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be age 18 or over.
• Safety sensitive position; must pass a drug test, including THC.
• Must be able to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars per customer orders.
• Work with a mentor to safely operate all machinery.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine or power saw to cut bars to specified lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to shape bars.
• Operate an overhead crane to move and assemble material for fabrication or shipment.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Apply epoxy touch up with a spray gun on reinforcing bars.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop environment.

What You'll Do:

An entry level production worker at Nucor Rebar Fabrication will bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer’s orders. You’ll work with a mentor who will train you on safely using all machinery

Responsibilities:

• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine or a power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

• Controlling Machines and Processes - read and comprehend basic safety and operational instructions
• Mathematics - Knowledge of basic math for accurate bar measurements.
• Occupational Safety - Using knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, strategies, and judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws and regulations to promote standards as well as working to continuously improve processes to ensure safety of all individuals.
