Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Knoxville is recruiting for a fabrication operator to join our team. You will attend equipment training, assist with loading, and maintain a clean, safe work area while operating heavy fabrication machinery.

You will work in a fast-paced, outdoor industrial setting, following procedures, with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and reliability. Day 1 benefits and opportunities for advancement are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to read and follow technical documents.
• Excellent communication and teamwork required.
• Strong work ethic and safety-conscious.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Attend training on applicable equipment.
• Assist in loading and unloading stock material.
• Maintain work area and equipment in clean, orderly condition.
• Operate production machines per procedures and guidelines.
• Support safety programs and uphold safety culture.
• Operate rebar fabrication equipment (shears, benders, cranes, forklift, etc.).

What You'll Do

• Attend training regarding applicable equipment
• Perform additional duties as needed
• Assist in loading fabricated rebar on trailers and unloading stock material from trailers
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
• Operate production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
• Operate rebar fabrication equipment, such as shears, benders, cranes, forklift, threaders, forging, welders, etc.

What You'll Need

• Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
• Able and willing to cross train as required
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations
• Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, pay attention to detail and find root causes for issues
• Ability to operate fabrication machines in a safe manner without supervision
• Able to work overtime as business requires
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions when needed
• Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals
• Possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the industrial field
• Excellent communication skills, in both written and verbal form are necessary to be successful in this role
• Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required
• Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
• Must possess work ethic and ability to be punctual
• Stand for long periods of time

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
