Job summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication Southeast in Frostproof, FL is seeking production associates to bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars. A mentor will train you on safe machinery use as you rotate between day and night shifts.

Responsibilities include unloading trailers, operating cutting and bending machines, cranes, and epoxy touch-up spraying, while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Overtime and safety compliance are required for this safety-sensitive role.

Qualifications

• Legal work authorization to work in the United States
• Age 18 or over
• Willing to work required overtime
• Must pass a drug test (including THC)

• Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars per customer orders; training with a mentor on safe machinery operation.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine or power saw to cut bars to length and a bending machine to shape bars.
• Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble and select material for fabrication or shipment.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate a spray gun for epoxy touch up on reinforcing bars.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop or designated work area.

Basic Job Functions

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

This production-based position will rotate between day and night shift schedules every four weeks. Day shift hours: Mon-Fri 5:00 AM-5:30 PM; Night Shift hours: Mon-Fri 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM.

What You’ll Do

Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer’s orders. You’ll work with a mentor who will train you on safely using all machinery.

Your Responsibilities

• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.


• Operate a shearing machine or a power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths, and a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.


• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.


• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.


• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.


• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future


• Must be age 18 or over


• Able to work required overtime


• Able to pass a required drug test (including THC screening)

Preferred Qualifications

• Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety-sensitive position


• Production positions in our fabrication shops require moderate to heavy lifting (no more than 50 lbs.)


• Must be willing to work overtime when required
