Job summary

Nucor in Frostproof, FL is seeking a production associate for our reinforcing steel fabrication team. This role rotates between day and night shifts, with strong emphasis on safety and quality.

You will bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing bars, operate saws and cranes under guidance, with paid training, competitive pay, and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Age 18 or older.
• Able to work required overtime.
• Able to pass a required drug test (THC screening).

Responsibilities

• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine or a power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths, and a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

This production-based position will rotate between day and night shift schedules every four weeks. Day shift hours: Mon-Fri 5:00 AM-5:30 PM; Night Shift hours: Mon-Fri 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM.

What You’ll Do
Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer’s orders. You’ll work with a mentor who will train you on safely using all machinery.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Must be age 18 or over
• Able to work required overtime
• Able to pass a required drug test (including THC screening)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety-sensitive position
• Production positions in our fabrication shops require moderate to heavy lifting (no more than 50 lbs.)
• Must be willing to work overtime when required
