Job Summary

Responsible for detailing rebar from contractor drawings, plans or blueprints. Assist with training junior level Detailers. Investigate ways to integrate new technologies into rebar fabrication operations.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities

• Determines design requirements as they pertain to concrete and masonry reinforcement.
• Generates accurate placement drawings for submittal and for field reinforcing placement purposes.
• Facilitates the project between the Contractor, Fabricator, and Ironworkers to ensure the project meets schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
• Maintains a clear and accurate comparison of detailed weights and quantities vs. estimated amounts. Reports any discrepancies to the department manager.
• Communicates with the customer and the fabrication manager to ensure scheduling expectations are reasonable and can be met.
• Communicates with the customer and/or designer to clarify missing or unclear information pertaining to the reinforcing requirements of a project.
• Maintains and updates the project status in the project management system (aSa, RMS, or other).
• Trains entry level Detailers to detail structural rebar manually or by using CAD.

Nature and Scope

• Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
• Work requires increasing independence; guidance is only provided on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers.
• May provide guidance or training to junior personnel.

Work Environment

• Typically located indoors with possible exposure to dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noise, or bright lights.
• Mostly sitting or standing; may need to move or lift light materials or equipment.
• Overnight travel less than 10%.

Education And Experience

• Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline with 2-5 years of experience, or an MS/MA with 2-4 years of experience. Certification may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in rebar detailing, knowledgeable of aSa software.
