Job summary

Reasons Eating Disorder Center in the Los Angeles area seeks a Yoga Therapist to join as a contractor. The role involves teaching yoga poses, breathing and meditation to patients across our residential and inpatient/partial hospitalization programs, with pay per session ($70–$80).

Candidate must have a Bachelor's in a related field, at least two years of yoga teaching experience and ideally trauma-informed training, with California licensure preferred.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in activity therapy, humanities, social work or a related therapeutic discipline.
Experience: Two years as a Yoga Instructor; trauma-informed yoga training preferred.
Licensure: California licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

Teach patients yoga poses, breathing and meditation.
Promote a positive relationship with the body and mindfulness.
Support residents in residential facilities and hospital programs.

Reasons Eating Disorder Center (Reasons) is seeking candidate professionals, preferably with previous experience working with eating disorders, trauma, substance use and LGBTQIA+ communities, to provide compassionate care to our diverse patients in our residential treatment facilities located in beautiful, intimate six-bed houses in the Pasadena and the Arcadia neighborhoods of the Los Angeles area, and our Reasons inpatient/partial hospitalization eating disorder programs at BHC Alhambra Hospital.

Job Description: The Yoga Instructor is responsible for teaching patients the practice of yoga poses, breathing and meditation. Yoga is a universal practice. Yoga supports patients in connecting with mind, body and soul. Yoga serves the purpose of teaching a positive relationship with the body, breathing techniques as a way of connecting with the body versus being disconnected with the body and meditation to promote mindfulness skills.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in activity therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Yoga Instructor. Trauma-informed yoga training highly preferred.

Licensure: Preferred certification by State of California.
