Job summary

Solid Waste Services of West Virginia Inc. in Proctor, WV is hiring Rear Load Drivers to join a family-like team that values safety and customer service. You will operate a front load trash truck, follow DOT regulations, and maintain route efficiency on municipal and subscription routes.

Responsibilities include coordinating with supervisors, loading and dumping waste, and keeping accurate records. A valid WV CDL-B with air brake endorsement is required, with eligibility for the company’s

• Must pass DOT physical and medical requirements.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds and perform outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate a front load trash truck per DOT regulations and company standards on assigned routes.
• Transport and dump municipal wastes at transfer stations or landfills.
• Coordinate with Route Supervisor, Dispatch, or Operations Manager for instructions and updates.
• Obtain load weight tickets and maintain logs/records (driver’s log, route sheets, work orders).
• Clean the truck daily and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report maintenance issues immediately.
• Support the team and adhere to safety policies and company procedures.

We have grown into one of the largest, most successful fully integrated solid waste companies serving the mid-Atlantic area.Come Join Our Family!Our Proctor, WV Division is looking for reliable, motivated and hardworking Rear Load Drivers who play a critical role on the solid waste collection team to support our ongoing success in a family-like company environment while safely and responsibly removing our communities’ trash and recycling.What You Will Do:Operate a front load trash truck in accordance with DOT Regulations, Company policy, and in accordance with established standards for excellent customer service on established subscription routes or municipal territories as listed on daily route sheets, special orders, and regular work ordersResponsible for the safe and efficient operation of the truck, as well as the helpers assigned to the truckTransport and dump municipal wastes at a regulated transfer station or approved landfillCoordinate regularly with the Route Supervisor, Dispatch or Operations Manager to ensure all stops are picked up, and to receive any special instructions as well as communicate any questions materials, overweight or oversized itemsObtain load weight tickets and sign for loads and maintains any related records required, i.e. driver’s log, route sheets, work orders, special request work, missed pick up logs, etc.Clean truck daily to ensure the vehicle meets company expectations to include cab, and ensure that no trash remains in the truck after completion of the routePerform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as outlined in the pre and post-trip vehicle condition reportReport any maintenance issues on the vehicle condition report (VCR) and report it immediately to the route supervisor or operations managerAs well as other duties as assignedWhat You Have:A valid WV Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B or equivalent) with air brake endorsement.Must meet all required DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a substance abuse screening.As a safety sensitive employee, all drivers are subject to random substance abuse screening under DOT and company policy.Ability to effectively deal with customers and co-workers.Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to prevent damage to truck, equipment, or surrounding items.Ability to sit in the cab of the truck for long periods.
