Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Virtual Simulation Software Engineer to join a focused Systems Engineering team for pilot-in-the-loop studies of next-gen weapons systems.

The role primarily uses C++, with some Java and Python, in a small team of developers and engineers. Flexible work arrangements are offered, and eligibility for security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 2 years of experience OR Master of Science in STEM discipline.
• Experience in computer/engineering software development using C++ (preferred), C#, Java or other OO languages.
• Ability to transfer and maintain U.S. government Top Secret clearance (in-scope or in Continuous Evaluation).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement real-time, pilot-in-the-loop simulation software for validation and mission-level evaluation of next-gen aircraft.
• Create or adapt simulation frameworks and modules (airframe, kinematics, sensors, weapons, C2, threat models).
• Partner with domain SMEs to translate physics into high-fidelity, real-time models and integrate them into the simulation.
• Model operational environments and perform trade studies via computer simulation to inform architectures and configurations.
• Support visualization models and databases for integration with a high-fidelity simulation environment.
