Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group seeks a diagnostics engineer to architect and implement real-time monitors in C++, with strict validation and traceability to failure modes. You will work with modern diagnostic standards such as UDS and CAN/LIN, and leverage Databricks for data-driven tuning.

Candidates should have 6–8 years of experience in automotive, autonomous, aerospace, or robotics diagnostics, and strong Python plus C++ skills for production-grade, safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 6–8 years of professional experience in diagnostics, embedded controls, or vehicle systems engineering in automotive/autonomous/ aerospace/ robotics industries.
• Working knowledge of diagnostic standards and protocols (UDS / ISO 14229, DTC management, OBD-II / SAE J1979) and communication buses (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Proficiency with Python for data analysis and visualization; experience with large-scale telemetry datasets (Databricks or equivalent).
• Strong C++ development skills in production or safety-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect real-time diagnostic monitors in modern C++, including signal plausibility checks, degradation detection, and fault isolation logic.
• Perform unit testing, HIL testing, and automated regression tests to validate diagnostic algorithms.
• Author formal diagnostic monitor requirements traceable to system- or component-level failure modes and verify against fleet data.
• Leverage fleet data in Databricks to characterize faults, tune detection thresholds, and validate algorithm performance.
• Lead root-cause analysis of field-reported faults using telemetry, logs, and replay tools across hardware, firmware, calibration, and environment.
• Produce clear technical specifications, design documents, and service procedures for Fleet Operations technicians.
• Monitor fleet-wide diagnostic KPIs and propose algorithm refinements and new monitors.
