Responsibilities:

1. Manage the real-time operations of NRG's asset portfolio, including dispatching generation based on economic conditions and operational constraints.
2. Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO rules and procedures.
3. Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, unit startup and shutdown times, and communicate all necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, fuel, and trading groups in a timely and professional manner.
4. Monitor and ensure ancillary services schedules are met to minimize portfolio risk and facilitate system reliability.
5. Communicate operational and emergency conditions with Balancing Authorities, Reliability Coordinators, Transmission Operators, and ISO on a continual basis.
6. Monitor and analyze market information to identify dispatching and trading opportunities.
7. Manage dispatching and trading decisions with a focus on balancing risk versus return to maximize profitability.
8. Analyze and evaluate energy transactions to ensure compliance with energy price, transmission, counterparty, and contractual terms per NRG's Risk Management Policy.
9. Interact with ISO web-based market tools and applications.
10. Switch between tasks effectively, adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
11. Implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System.
12. Comply with NERC Reliability Standards and regional ISO rules and tariffs.
13. Complete necessary NERC certification and continuing education requirements.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in economics, business, finance, or relevant field, or equivalent military or industry experience.
2. Strong mathematical and technical skills.
3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Proven ability to act within time constraints.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and web-based environments.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
8. Experience with markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO, ISONE is preferred.
9. NERC and PJM certification is a plus; if not certified, must complete within 18 months.
10. Must complete desk qualification within 12 months.
11. Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 operation and fulfill storm/event duty requirements, including extended shifts during catastrophic events.
