Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) News Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer to evolve its real-time news collection and distribution platform. The role targets mid-level engineers who own their code, write tests, and contribute in a Scrum environment.

You will work with C++, Python, and cloud-native tooling across on-prem and cloud deployments, plus modern DevOps practices, to deliver scalable real-time news services. Hybrid work options are available along with healthcare benefits.

Qualifications

Solid experience with C/C++ on Linux and real-time systems.
Practical experience with IP-based protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTPS).
Familiarity with unit testing using Google Test.
Understanding of network protocols and distributed systems.
Experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Bonus: Python, Google Test, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform experience.
Knowledge of NewsMLG2 or similar standards and applying them at speed.

Responsibilities

Write clean, efficient C++ and Python code for both on-prem and cloud-hosted environments.
Work with XML, JSON, HTML, and XSLT to power News industry standards.
Collaborate in a scrum team crafting solutions and delivering new features.
Be responsible for code quality by writing automated tests and participating in code reviews.
Support production systems and help automate deployment, upgrades, and maintenance using modern DevOps tools.
Occasionally provide on-call support for critical systems.
