Job summary

ATC Healthcare Services seeks a qualified SEE interpreter for Crestwood Elementary School in the Kent School District. The role ensures full access to the curriculum and activities through real-time transliteration between spoken English and Signing Exact English.

The interpreter collaborates with the IEP team, supports vocabulary and concepts, and assists with assistive tech like FM systems, while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• Certification per Washington State requirements for educational interpreters (EIPA 3.5 or higher).
• Advanced proficiency in Signing Exact English (SEE) and strong English grammar and vocabulary.
• Associate’s degree or higher in Educational Interpreting or related field.

Responsibilities

• Literal real-time transliteration of lectures, discussions, and instructions using SEE.
• Voice-to-Sign and Sign-to-Voice translation between student and staff.
• Provide tutoring or clarification on vocabulary and concepts under supervision.
• Participate in IEP team meetings to implement communication goals.
• Assist with setup and monitoring of assistive technology (FM systems, hearing aids).
• Facilitate communication during non‑academic times (recess, lunch, assemblies, field trips).
