Job summary

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, seeks a Power Trader in Milwaukee, WI to minimize net costs by maximizing value of owned and contracted resources while ensuring reliable operations of the bulk electric system.

The role requires coordinating with NERC and MISO-related entities, forecasting loads, and crafting bids for Day Ahead and Real Time markets, with career progression within a power trading family.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; alternatively 5+ years in generation, bulk electric system operations, and/or wholesale electric markets.

Responsibilities

• Continuously evaluate gen assets and update offers for Day Ahead and Real Time markets to maximize asset value.
• Support NERC RFC MRO and MISO reliability requirements.
• Dispatch generation in real time to ensure reliability and cost efficiency.
• Forecast loads using load forecasts, weather data, and historical trends.
• Create demand bids based on forecasts, commitments, and asset values.
• Optimize net asset portfolio while complying with market rules.
• Coordinate with Electric System Operations and MISO/ATC counterparts as needed.
• Develop understanding of new resources (solar, batteries) under ESG initiatives.
• Operate multiple market operations, settlement, planning, monitoring systems.
