Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a Real-Time Operations Engineer/Specialist to provide direct engineering support for real-time operations.

The role focuses on reviewing system conditions, analyzing with PSSE/MUST/OSI EMS tools, and developing prompt responses to ensure continuous operation across the energy network. The position requires a 24/7 rotating shift, proficiency with network analysis software, and coordination with multiple departments and external entities to maintain reliability and

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, or Physics.
  • Ability to perform 24 by 7 rotation shift (12 hour on weekends and 8 hour on weekdays).
  • Ability to obtain NERC Certification within department time frame.
  • Understanding of basic electric power systems theory and principles.
  • Ability to perform operational planning analysis using PSSE, OSI EMS tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power system analysis for near-term and current-day operations using PSSE and EMS tools.
  • Utilize SDX, MISO Extranet, PJM EDart to gather information for transmission system analysis.
  • Maintain and update network topology and equipment databases.
  • Coordinate system changes and transmission ratings with multiple teams and MISO.
  • Develop operating plans and evaluate Bulk Electric System outages in real time.
