Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) in Poway, CA, is seeking a software engineer to design and implement a real-time Dynamic Environment Model (DEM) for multi-sensor fusion in unmanned systems.

You will work on real-time C++ and Python, develop perception and fusion infrastructure, and collaborate with ML and autonomy teams to enable robust situational awareness. This full-time role requires security clearance eligibility and hands-on experience with Kalman filters, DDS/ROS2, and

Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical field from an accredited institution.
Five+ years with a Bachelor's or three+ years with a Master's in ML engineering.
Education may be substituted with equivalent machine learning engineering experience.
Proven experience in multi-sensor fusion and real-time systems.

Responsibilities

Build and optimize real-time DEM data structures for spatiotemporal modeling.
Implement deterministic fusion and perception infrastructure for multi-sensor data.
Support tracking engineers with IMM-EKF/UKF, JPDA, and data association models.
Design and maintain low-latency transport and messaging (ZMQ/DDS/ROS2).
Develop tools for replay, Monte-Carlo evaluation, field tests, and visualization.
Collaborate with ML engineers, autonomy stack, and mission systems teams.
Contribute to sim-to-real validation.
