Axios is a media organization delivering trustworthy, award-winning news in an audience-first format. We’re hiring reporters to write for our newsdesk.

Reporting to our Head of News, the news writers will be the 24/7 nerve center for the newsroom, with a 'see it, write it' mentality and fast-twitch reflexes to cover breaking stories in real time. Starting salary ranges from $75,000 to $125,000, and we offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and flexible work options

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with a team of journalists.
Experience writing in a fast-paced news environment.
Demonstrated ability to monitor and act on breaking news.
Familiarity with Smart Brevity as Axios' core writing style.
Experience working across teams to produce quality content.
Knowledge of digital and social media landscapes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Real-time news surveillance and monitoring of breaking stories.
Quick-turn writing of spot news stories for the newsdesk.
Flag developments on key stories to subject-matter experts for validation.
