Job summary

PINNACLE GROUP (Pinnacle Technical Resources) seeks a Mainframe Performance & Capacity Management Engineer in Atlanta to monitor and optimize real-time z/OS workloads. You will leverage RMF, SmartIS, and MICS to detect bottlenecks, guide tuning, and ensure efficient critical workloads across departments.

You will collect data, build dashboards, and present KPIs to leadership, collaborating with DevOps and operations to drive improvements and on-call incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field.
• 10+ years of mainframe systems experience with z/OS performance management.
• Proven track record in performance monitoring, observability and capacity management.
• Experience resolving real-time performance issues via WLM/batch initiators.
• Proficiency in JCL and DB2; basic PR/SM understanding.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time z/OS health and performance across CPU, memory, DASD and WLM workloads.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks and issues.
• Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve resource anomalies in production systems.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to resolve performance issues quickly.
• Develop performance tuning strategies and workload placement recommendations.
• Forecast and model capacity needs and support cost modeling.
