Job summary

PTR Global is seeking a Mainframe Performance & Capacity Management Engineer to monitor real-time z/OS health, detect anomalies, and prevent incidents affecting critical workloads. You will analyze performance data, guide tuning, and collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and operations teams to optimize resources.

The role requires 10+ years in mainframe performance, strong JCL/DB2, and scripting skills (REXX/Python); Excel dashboards are essential for leadership reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field.
• 10+ years of mainframe experience with z/OS, performance management and capacity planning.
• Proven ability to monitor performance, analyze data, and resolve real-time issues.
• Strong JCL, DB2, and modern scripting (REXX/Python) skills.
• Advanced Excel and data visualization for leadership dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time z/OS health and performance across CPUs, memory, DASD, and WLM workloads.
• Analyze data to identify trends, bottlenecks and capacity risks.
• Detect and resolve resource anomalies; partner with incident response teams.
• Develop tuning strategies and forecasting for capacity planning.
• Collaborate with operations, development, and infrastructure teams; support Git/DevOps migrations.
