Job summary

Vermeer Corporation is seeking an embedded software engineer to design, develop, and test real-time control systems across next-generation machinery. You will work on embedded software using C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and contribute to HMI development for intuitive operator interfaces.

The role involves integrating CAN protocols, RTOS, and participating in Agile/DevOps practices, including CI/CD and Git workflows. Hybrid work arrangements are available, with occasional travel to Vermeer facilities.

Qualifications

Degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field with embedded systems focus.
Experience or coursework in embedded programming with C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
Familiarity with HMI development, CAN (SAE J1939) and RTOS such as FreeRTOS or VxWorks.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test embedded software for real-time control systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical designs.
Develop and refine HMIs for embedded control systems.
Integrate and validate control systems using CAN protocols and serial comms.
Support rapid prototyping and CI/CD practices with version control (Git/GitHub).
Contribute to safety-critical development with awareness of ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
