Job summary

Parallel Systems seeks an Embedded Software Engineer for perception stack on autonomous, battery-electric rail vehicles. You will develop drivers and firmware for embedded Linux on ARM/NVIDIA platforms, focusing on high-throughput sensors and real-time performance.

You’ll work near kernel and hardware, collaborating with embedded teams to optimize latency, jitter, and synchronization, with opportunities to advance perception pipelines and ML workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years hands-on embedded, firmware, or systems software experience.
• Strong knowledge of Linux internals and driver development on ARM-based platforms.
• Proficiency in Rust and C++ for systems-level programming.
• Experience with NVIDIA embedded platforms (Jetson/Tegra).
• Experience developing or maintaining drivers for high-throughput sensors (camera/lidar).
• Comfort debugging at hardware/software boundary (device tree, kernel logs, scopes).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain drivers, kernel modules, and firmware for embedded Linux on ARM/NVIDIA platforms.
• Write low-level systems software in Rust and C/C++ for perception components.
• Build, modify, and optimize drivers for high-throughput sensors (camera, lidars, IMUs).
• Own performance of sensing hardware and drive real-time optimizations (timesync, latency, jitter).
• Test and validate sensor configuration changes across firmware revisions.
• Profile and optimize GPU/kernel performance on NVIDIA platforms to meet real-time constraints.
