Job summary

The candidate will interact with judges, staff, attorneys, and the public, maintaining notes, exhibits, and timely transcripts while adhering to strict confidentiality and accuracy standards.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain favorable background clearance.
• Must clear pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Texas Real Time Court Stenography Reporter certification required.
• Stenography speed requirements: 225 wpm (testimony), 200 wpm (jury charges), 180 wpm (literary) with 95% accuracy.
• Ability to operate PC, typewriter and basic office equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with court staff, judges, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Records court proceedings using stenography equipment for trials, hearings, and appeals.
• Reads back previous testimony when required during proceedings.
• Categories, files and maintains stenography notes and exhibits.
• Prepares transcriptions for appealed cases; completes requested writings.
• Prepares jury charges and other court correspondence as directed by the Judge.
• Maintains monthly statistics for Court of Appeals reports.
• Performs related duties as required.
