Job summary

The Real Deal, a leading real estate journalism outlet headquartered in New York City, is seeking a reporter to join our fast-growing team. You will write several original web stories per week and contribute in-depth features for the website and our monthly magazine.

The ideal candidate will break news, cultivate sources, and write with voice and authority on deadline. Experience in business journalism is a plus, with opportunities to cover topics across politics, finance, law and entertainment

Qualifications

• Demonstrated writing, interviewing and reporting skills.
• Ability to write with voice and authority.
• Develop expertise and sources in TRD coverage areas such as real estate, politics and business.
• Obtain and analyze information from databases, records, financial reports and social media.
• Understanding of journalistic standards, ethics and protocol.
• Able to juggle and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Team player; collaborative mindset.
• Business writing experience is preferred.
• On-camera interviews or video hosting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute three to six original articles per week across TRD markets.
• Produce a longer story (1,000–2,000 words) for the monthly print magazine.
• Collaborate on investigative reporting projects and in-depth features.
