Job summary

Seyfarth Shaw LLP is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to support attorneys in commercial real estate transactions, including due diligence, closing and post‑closing activities. You will be part of the Real Estate department, reporting to your team’s attorneys.

The role requires 4+ years of experience in commercial real estate, a Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong writing and organizational skills are essential.

  • Strong writing, organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Preparation of title objection letters and negotiation of title policies.
  • Prepare and administer contract critical dates and closing checklists.
  • Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents.
  • Attend to all post‑closing requirements, which will require you to prepare closing indices, prepare and organise closing binders, and monitor all post‑closing deliveries and requirements.
  • Prepare clear and concise correspondence and memorandum.
  • Prepare initial draft document, amendments to agreements or leases and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs and Memos of Lease for attorney review.
  • Review organisational and authority documents.
  • Order UCC Lien and other searches.

The Opportunity

As a real estate paralegal, you will assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post‑closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. You will be a member of the firm’s Real Estate department, reporting to the attorneys on your team.

The Day‑To‑Day
On Any Given Day, You Will
  • Order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies

You Have
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. Law firm and in‑house experience will be considered.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar mail. calendar technology.
  • Legal research skills and knowledge of relevant databases.
  • Strong writing, organisational and communication skills.

Location Specific Language

The salary range for this role is $95,000- 105,000 annually, which is based on a 40 hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Boston. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organisational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
