Job summary

Beam Living, a Blackstone-owned residential property management group in New York City, seeks a Legal Assistant to support the Litigation team. You will draft, file, and prep litigation and pre-litigation documents across proceedings, track reports, and manage case files and calendars.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a Legal Assistant/Paralegal role with NYC landlord/tenant experience, plus familiarity with eCourts, NYSCEF, Yardi, and MRI.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal; NYC landlord/tenant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NYC landlord/tenant process, including nonpayment/holdover proceedings.
• Experience with the warrant process and related documentation.
• Proficiency with eCourts and NYSCEF filing systems.
• Experience in a multi-family/high-volume building environment preferred.
• Familiarity with Yardi and/or MRI property management software preferred.
• Strong communication; able to manage tenant interactions via in-person, phone, and email.

Responsibilities

• Support Litigation Department with drafting, prep, and filing of litigation and pre-litigation documents.
• Track and synthesize information for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Prepare litigation files for Court proceedings.
• Manage electronic and hard copy case files on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain the Court calendar in an effective, transparent, and timely manner.
• Coordinate and schedule meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist with requests for outsourced matters and outside counsel queries.
• Assist with preparation of warrants and communications with the Marshal’s office regarding evictions.
• Contribute to legal case timelines and write-ups as needed.
• Develop knowledge of electronic programs used in Litigation (Yardi, MRI, Asana).
• Support special projects and requests as needed.
