Job summary

New York Life Investments is seeking an Associate Accounting professional to support financial accounting and cash management across our real estate portfolio. You will help ensure accurate reporting, NAV calculations, and investor statements, working closely with real estate officers and auditors.

The role emphasizes rigorous analysis, attention to detail, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. A background in accounting or finance and knowledge of real estate accounting are preferred.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 0–3 years accounting experience in fund/real estate/investment mgmt preferred.
• Experience with fund-level accounting, GAAP, and tax reporting is a plus.
• Knowledge of cash management and accounts payable processes preferred.
• Experience with corporate accounting, consolidations, and SOX reporting is a plus.
• Strong Excel and Yardi or real estate accounting systems experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely financial information for management, auditors, and clients.
• Review quarterly valuation changes and calculate asset management fees and NAV.
• Perform reconciliations between custodian bank records and accounting records.
• Support real estate reporting to clients and audits.
• Manage capital calls, distributions, allocations, and investor notices.
• Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls for accurate reporting.
• Assist cash management and accounts payable processes and coding.
• Collaborate with accounting to classify expenses and maintain cash management records.
• Contribute to process improvements and stay current on industry developments.
