Job summary

Forward Development Group, Verona, Wisconsin, seeks a Financial Accountant to join our real estate development team. You will oversee corporate and project accounting across development and investment entities, supporting acquisitions, construction, financing, and asset management.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will manage GL, AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, cash flow, and lender reporting, collaborating with leadership to drive strategic decisions and business growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Commercial real estate or construction accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Appfolio, Entrada, Yardi, Sage, or similar platforms is a plus).
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activity and account reconciliations.
• Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Process payroll.
• Assist with monthly and annual financial close.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Coordinate owner and investor distributions.
• Present financial results and reporting to company leadership.
• Maintain accounting records for multiple development and investment entities.
• Track project costs, construction draws, and development budgets.
• Prepare and maintain project financial models.
• Analyze project performance and assist with underwriting new opportunities.
• Support debt financing, lender reporting, and covenant compliance.
• Review loan documents and coordinate with lenders during project financing.
• Review financial statements from third-party property managers.
• Assist with project capitalization and transition from development to operations.
• Prepare year‑end workpapers for outside CPA firms and tax return preparation.
