Job summary

Harrison Street Asset Management (HSAM) seeks an Associate for its Real Estate Credit Strategies team in New York. You will evaluate, underwrite, and execute credit opportunities across multifamily, student housing, office, industrial and more, supporting West Coast originations as needed.

The role emphasizes financial modeling, market due diligence, and close collaboration with lenders, sponsors, and legal counsel to move transactions from origination to close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or related field with a strong academic record.
• 2–3 years of experience in real estate or investment banking, with underwriting and transaction execution exposure.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, including Excel; Argus strongly preferred.
• Understanding of CRE fundamentals, capital structures, and loan documentation.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize analyses.
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and intellectually curious with real estate investing interest.

Responsibilities

• Support origination and execution of new credit investments including various loan types.
• Develop and maintain detailed financial cash flow models and sensitivity analyses.
• Conduct market, sponsor and asset-level due diligence with third-party reports.
• Prepare and present in pipeline meetings and investment committees.
• Coordinate with legal counsel, lenders, and sponsors to drive execution from origination through closing.
• Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and asset management, including valuations.
• Conduct sector and market research to identify trends and opportunities.
