Job summary

Aegon Asset Management is seeking a Real Assets Research Intern to join the Cedar Rapids office on a hybrid schedule. The role focuses on collecting, organizing, and synthesizing data related to macroeconomy, commercial real estate, capital markets, and other real assets sectors.

You will work in person with the Real Assets Client Strategy team, gaining hands-on experience while supporting market research, data visualization, and client reporting.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
• Internships are not available for students who have completed their undergraduate college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
• Strong written & verbal communications skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work.
• Proven ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines consistently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).

Responsibilities

• Support market and portfolio research efforts by analyzing data to uncover insights on commercial real estate performance, portfolio positioning, and sector trends.
• Aggregate and summarize economic, real estate, and portfolio-level data, synthesizing information into charts, tables, and other visuals.
• Support the preparation of presentations, memos, and client reports.
• Help maintain and update real estate data files, dashboards, and financial models.
• Attend internal meetings (e.g., strategy sessions, investment reviews) and shadow full-time analysts to gain exposure to the investment research process.
• Assist with portfolio analysis projects, including reviewing property, loan, or fund-level data to support internal reporting, investment discussions, and strategy development.
