Job summary

CalPortland in Solvang, CA is seeking a Ready-Mix Driver responsible for transporting freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to job sites, performing safety checks and maintaining equipment, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. The role requires a current CDL with airbrakes and tank endorsement, a clean driving record, and a DOT medical card.

You will work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and nights, while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Must have current Commercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record.
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate.
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions.
• Must have familiarity with slumps.
• Good attendance and punctuality a must.
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather.
• Must have the physical ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes up to 60 lbs., stretch, drive/sit and shift gears.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours; overtime work, weekends and nights may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws
• Clean and wash vehicle to include the removal of concrete buildup on all exterior parts of the mixer
• Must be willing to work according to customer demands
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, state, and federal regulations
• Responsible for reporting all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. Compensation

$37.67 - $39.49 per hour.

Preferred:

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
