Job summary

CalPortland in Oregon is seeking a Ready-Mix Driver to transport freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to job sites, with safe operation and timely deliveries. You will perform basic adjustments to equipment and maintain a positive, customer‑service oriented attitude.

Candidates need a current Class A/B CDL with air brakes and tank endorsement, a clean driving record, a DOT medical card, and ability to read maps or GPS. Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and nights is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record with no serious violations in 36 months.
• DOT Medical Certificate current.
• Ability to read a map and follow GPS directions.
• Familiarity with slumps.
• Good attendance and punctuality.
• Able to work in hot/cold weather and lift up to 60 lbs.
• Flexible schedule; overtime, weekends and nights may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites.
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws.
• Clean and wash vehicle, removing concrete buildup on exterior parts.
• Be willing to work according to customer demands.
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel.
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, state and federal regulations.
• Report all incidents/injuries to management; attend safety meetings as scheduled.

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. Education

High School Diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have currentCommercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement
• Safe driving record - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions
• Must have familiarity with slumps
• Good attendance and punctuality a must
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required

Preferred

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
